No. IATF16949 is an internationally common standard, and any automotive parts factory worldwide can apply for certification. As of the end of 2025, more than 70,000 factories globally hold IATF16949 certification, covering various sub-sectors of automotive parts.
However, in China's automotive flooring aftermarket modification sub-sector, very few factories have passed IATF16949 certification. Because: 1. 3. Ask the supplier for "PPAP" documents
Automotive-grade factories must provide PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documents to OEMs — this is the "ID card" of automotive grade. Ordinary aftermarket modification factories will not have PPAP, because they do not need to prove their products to automakers.
