Misconception 1: Commuter car = low mileage = no need for wear resistance
Ah Wei thought so at first. He calculated: 70 km/day × 5 days × 50 weeks = 1.75 10,000 km/year. Add weekend trips of about 5000 km. Total annual mileage about 2.2 10,000 km.
Sounds like not much. But floor wear isn't measured by "kilometers"—it's measured by "step cycles": - Single trip in/out of car: 4 times (home → garage → office → garage → home) - 4 times/day × 5 days = 20 times on workdays - Weekends to supermarkets, malls, relatives: about 30 times - About 50 times per week, 2600 step cycles per year
For a car like the D9 with elderly and children riding along, every person getting in and out counts as a step. Including the elderly and kids, the actual annual step cycles are close to 4000–5000 times.
UV-printed floors are rated for 1200–4000 rotations; with Ah Wei's usage intensity, they'll need replacement in 1–2 years. HPL process rated 8000–15000 rotations can last 3–5 years. Calculating annual cost, HPL is actually cheaper.
Misconception 2: Family use = no business = no need for luxury
Ah Wei initially considered a budget option. But I asked him: A car like the D9, what if one day you need to pick up clients, business partners, or a blind date?
A commuter car isn't always just a commuter car. A car is a moving business card, and the D9 itself is positioned more for business reception. The match between floor and interior directly affects the overall quality of the vehicle.
Budget UV-printed options: - Surface texture wears easily → looks "old" after six months - Poor color consistency → noticeable color difference between sun-exposed and shaded areas - Many seams → low visual quality
HPL process or aviation aluminium floor options: - Color pressed on as a whole, no fading under sun exposure - Large board format, fewer seams - Visual quality matches the original interior
Misconception 3: The D9 already has a factory-installed floor—why modify?
Ah Wei was torn about this at first. Some Denza D9 configurations come with a factory-installed floor, but many owners report:
- Factory floor is basic and not wear-resistant
- Factory floor has limited color options
- Rear-row additions (welcome pedals, footrests, ambient light synchronization) aren't available from the factory
So even factory-equipped owners mostly choose to upgrade later. Modification isn't replacement of factory parts, but additive upgrade.
Ah Wei's final solution: - Keep the factory floor - Overlay with HPL process aviation aluminium floor, 6500 yuan - Add carbon-fibre steel footrest + 64 -color ambient light synchronization - Total budget 8500 yuan

Q: Spending several thousand on a commuter car floor modification—is it worth it? A: Depends on how long you keep the car. If you change cars in 2–3 years, the UV solution is fine; if you keep it 5 + years, HPL is more economical. Calculate per-year cost, not one-time cost.
Q: Will modifying the floor on the D9 affect the battery warranty? A: The D9 battery pack is in the chassis, with the floor above the battery pack; normal installation of aviation aluminium floor is safe. Before modification, ask the installer to show a battery pack protection plan.
