The Shenzhen ride-hailing scene has seen more and more Li Auto MEGAs over the past two years. Early 2026 , a peer asked me "I'm running ride-hailing, do I really need to modify the floor?" — I gave three judgments directly. This article expands on each one.

Judgment #1: Daily mileage determines the wear-resistance grade

The biggest difference between a ride-hailing car and a family car is mileage. I know a driver from Shenzhen Futian who picked up his MEGA in 8 of last year; by 8 this year, exactly one year, he had logged 14.8 km. That mileage works out to nearly 400 km a day — more than the total annual mileage of an average family car.

A family car covers about 1.5–2 km a year, and the floor takes roughly 2 abrasion cycles per year (getting in and out, shoe-sole friction, luggage dragged across). For ride-hailing at his pace, that's over 14 cycles a year — 7 times more.

So while a UV-printed floor may be enough for a family car (1200–4000 revolutions), a ride-hailing car must go with HPL high-temperature press-laminate (8000–15000 revolutions) or a higher-grade aviation aluminium floor. This driver learned the hard way — he first installed a UV-printed solution from a certain brand, and after 6 km the pattern was worn through. He regretted not going straight to HPL.

Judgment #2: Passenger type determines the stain-resistance grade

A family car typically has 3–5 regular passengers; a ride-hailing car may serve 30–50 rides a day. Among them are passengers in high heels, kids spilling snacks, spilled coffee or milk tea, and luggage wheels rolling straight across the floor.

Shenzhen is rainy, and passengers tracking in water and mud on their soles is the norm. So a ride-hailing floor needs to meet 3 stain-resistance conditions:

  • A dense, non-permeable surface — the HPL laminate layer is pressed together under high temperature, so if a stain wipes off it basically hasn't penetrated
  • Few seams — ride-hailing drivers all fear seams trapping dirt, so large-panel designs beat small-panel joins
  • Local replaceability — if one panel gets scorched by a cigarette or dented by a hard object, you can swap just that one panel without dismantling the whole floor

This MEGA driver's second modification went with the aviation aluminium large-panel solution; each panel is held by its own clip, so a problem means removing just one panel.

Judgment #3: Commercial use determines the cost structure

A family-car floor budget of 5000–8000 is reasonable (amortised over 10 years of service life). For ride-hailing, with a payback cycle of 3–5 years, the annual cost has to be kept under 2000 to be worthwhile.

A Shenzhen ride-hailing driver ran the numbers:

  • Entry-level UV solution: 3000 yuan ÷ 3 years = 1000 yuan/year (but it wears through in 1 years, meaning 2 replacements = 6000 yuan)
  • Mid-range HPL solution: 6000 yuan ÷ 5 years = 1200 yuan/year (one-shot, no rework)
  • Top-tier aviation aluminium: 8000 yuan ÷ 5 years = 1600 yuan/year (most wear-resistant, fastest payback)

In the end, that driver chose the mid-range HPL solution.

FAQ

Q: Does a ride-hailing modification affect the operating permit? A: Interior modifications that don't alter the vehicle's main structure or compromise safety generally don't affect the operating permit. We recommend photographing the work before and after for records and filing it with your platform.

Q: What certification does a commercial-vehicle floor need? A: There is currently no dedicated national certification for commercial-vehicle floors. Meeting the standard GB 8410 flame-retardant and formaldehyde emission requirements is sufficient. HPL-process aviation aluminium floors typically meet these requirements.

Q: How is warranty handled for ride-hailing floors? A: Manufacturers generally don't provide full warranty for commercial use. We recommend choosing a brand with a "non-commercial/commercial dual-use" clause, or negotiating an extended warranty with the shop.
